Elf

A race on the decline, elves are retreating from Faerun to a place far to the West known as Evermeet. With every passing year fewer and fewer elves remain in Faerun. Those who do are either too old or stubborn to make the trek, or are young and want a life of excitement and adventure.

Physically elves stand between 5’4" and 6’, weighing between 130 to 170 lbs. Elves reach full physical maturity at around 20 years of age, but aren’t considered to be mentally mature until they reach their hundredth birthday. Once they reach their 20th year they stop aging visibly until they’re into their second millenium at which point they start aging rapidly. Very few elves live beyond 1,200 years.

Moon Elves

Moon Elves have pale skin with it often containing an icy blue hue. Their hair is typically black, blue or silvery while their eyes are typically green but sometimes blue instead. The irises of theirs do exhibit golden flecks which is unique to their race.

Moon Elves have a great wanderlust, traveling across Faerun and living among other races. They typically embrace new ideas from other races (although having little patience for wanton violence) and incorporate it into their own ever changing culture. Since the retreat began the moon elves have been the most resistant to leaving the lands of Faerun and as such are one of the most common elves to be found.

Moon Elves can be found in many settlements of other races, including in Cormyr, Turmish and The Vast.

Exploits

  • Fey. Elves of all types are considered Fey.
  • Meditation. Moon Elves do not need to sleep. They may sometimes choose to meditate, instead, while their non-elven companions are sleeping, but this is not necessary.
  • Naturally Magical. Moon Elves begin play knowing one free magical secret.
  • Polyglot. Moon Elves can attempt to learn the native language spoken in area after with a successful challenging (13) LOG check. They must spend a month within the area and immersed in the culture before they can make the check. If they fail they must spend another month in the area and immersed in the culture before they can try again.

Sun Elves

Sun elves have bronzed skin, their hair colour ranges between copper, golden blond and black with the rare high elf having red hair. Their eyes are typically green, but can also be golden, silver, black, hazel and cooper eyes.

Sun elves have been retreating in the greatest numbers since the call was first put out 13 years ago. Their numbers were never the highest with those who have remained behind doing so for either loved ones or infirmity. They have small settlements in the Dalelands, although they grow less inhabited with each passing year.

  • Cultural Weapon. Sun Elves begin play with a free longsword and longbow.
  • Fey. Elves of all types are considered Fey.
  • Magic Sense. Sun Elves can sense magic within 10’ of them. They can intuitively sense the presence of magic, but not the power level, type, direction, or exact location.
  • Meditation. Sun Elves do not need to sleep. They may sometimes choose to meditate, instead, while their non-elven companions are sleeping, but this is not necessary.
  • Naturally Magical. Sun Elves begin play knowing one free magical secret.

Wood Elves

Wood Elves have coppery skin with green, hazel or brown eyes. Their hair is typically brown or black, but can range from blond to copper red. Wood Elves abhor cities and have little interest in the arcane arts. Instead they take great effort to live as one with nature. They consider compassion to be their greatest strength, although they’re a simple people and sometimes speak a bit too bluntly.

They live in villages hidden in the forests of Faerun, including the High Forest in Cormyr and the Great Dale. They take great pains in maintaining amicable relations with their neighbours. Some have retreated from Faerun however many more still reside deep within their forested homelands.

Exploits

  • Fey. Elves of all types are considered Fey.
  • Healthy. Sylvan Elves are completely immune to illness and disease of a non-magical nature.
  • Nature Affinity. All Sylvan Elves know either the secret of plants or the secret of beasts.
  • Meditation. Sylvan Elves do not need to sleep. They may choose to meditate, instead, while their non-elven companions are sleeping, but this is not necessary.
  • Tree-Dwellers. Sylvan Elves gain a Climb speed equal to their regular Speed.
  • Unimpeded. Sylvan Elves are not affected or slowed by difficult terrain.
